Adults
Orthodontic treatment at any stage of your adult life can dramatically improve your personal appearance and self esteem. Improving the health of your teeth and gums is equally important. Crooked teeth and a bad bite, can contribute to gum and bone loss, tooth decay, abnormal wear of tooth enamel and surfaces, headaches and jaw joint pain.
The new techniques and appliances I use greatly reduce discomfort levels, decrease the frequency of visits, shorten treatment and may allow you to chose from several options. There are very aesthetic options now available that will greatly increase your appearance while undergoing treatment.
Your options may include metal braces, tooth coloured braces with or without the world’s first truly clear/aesthetic orthodontic wire (SimpliClear®) and then there are transparent aligners (Invisalign®) to improve mild cases of misaligned teeth.
During the initial examination, I will outline the various possible treatment options that you may consider. However, more in-depth analysis of your records (including x-rays, photographs and study models of your teeth) may be required before detailing a more precise treatment plan that will treat you to the best standard.
I will outline the cost and the time that treatment will take. A large percentage of my patients are adults, and they agree that it’s never too late to improve their greatest asset, their smile.
According to research by the American Association of Orthodontists, untreated malocclusions can result in a variety of problems, crowded teeth are more difficult to clean and floss, which may contribute to tooth decay and/or gum disease. Protruding teeth are more susceptible to accidental breakage. Crossbites can result in unfavourable growth and uneven tooth wear. Open bites can result in tongue thrusting habits and speech impediments. Ultimately orthodontics does more than make a pretty smile it creates a healthier you.
